Non-surgical care for sport, musculoskeletal and spine conditions

Specialist Consultation

MSP covered service for Canadians. Private consultations are offered for non-MSP covered patients.

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

Pain interventions using ultrasound guidance including joint and soft tissue injections. Regenerative treatments such as platelet rich plasma (PRP) and percutaneous tenotomy. Targeted nerve blocks.

Fluoroscopic Spine Intervention

Minimally invasive x-ray guided lumbar spine procedures for back pain, nerve pain and pelvic pain.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sayed

Dr. El-Sayed is a double board-certified specialist in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. Before his arrival at UBC, he completed his fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle with advanced training in diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound and minimally invasive procedures performed under ultrasound and fluoroscopic guidance. He also gained on-field experience across the NCAA, NFL, international marathons, and triathlons.

Dr. El-Sayed provides non-surgical, patient-centered care aimed at improving function, performance, and quality of life in musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions. His approach integrates exercise as medicine, targeted lifestyle and nutrition strategies, and appropriate medical therapies. He works with patients of all ages and performance levels to develop individualized treatment plans that support their personal goals and well-being.

Dr. El-Sayed is actively involved in medical education at UBC where he teaches and trains medical students, residents, and fellows. He currently serves as a consulting physician for the Vancouver Whitecaps and is a traveling national team physician with Canada Soccer. He is also part of the physician team caring for UBC’s varsity athletes and regularly provides medical coverage for locally hosted U Sports events.
